This Week at Christ Community | We Believed. God Answered. | December 5, 2019

God’s timing is perfect. On December 2, 2002, our church went in debt for $5.7 million to build the main section of our building that that we use regularly, including the gym, lobby, and children’s space. That was 17 years ago this past Monday. It was due to be paid off at the end of 2022.

Over the years, the debt had become a mountain before our church. At one point 45% of our budget went to debt, hampering our ability to do ministry and mission, the very things God has called us to do. The burden to deal with this debt began in the hearts of so many of our members before I ever became pastor.

On December 4, 2016, three years ago yesterday, I preached my first sermon at Christ Community. I knew in order to do anything significant for the kingdom of God, we had to deal with our debt. I believed God wanted us to tackle it, so I began praying that God would miraculously wipe away our debt. I cried out to God every day for him to wipe it away and I called our church to pray together. At that time, we had 3.2 million in debt, 45% of our weekly budget went to debt, and it was a mountain before us.
Here we are, now 3 years later, with our church in a season of incredible growth, an awesome staff team helping build effective ministries, refocused on God’s mission, and for the first time in 17 years, we began a week fully debt-free. And it all happened the same week that we went into debt 17 years ago, and the week I was called as pastor 3 years ago. God’s timing is perfect!

All praise to God. This coming Sunday has been a long time coming.
Together our church has believed God, and God has answered in a way beyond anything we could have imagined. He has used each of you to answer this prayer. Your giving has been multiplied. Your prayers have been answered. We must pause, reflect, and take time to celebrate the financial freedom God has given us. This is not the finish line, but the start of a new season of fulfilling the mission God has called us to of making gospel-centered disciples for the glory of God.
Don’t miss Sunday as we gather to praise God for what he has done. In each service, we will celebrate His faithfulness in a unique way. Know anyone who was a member of Christ Community in the past? Invite them to come back and celebrate with us! Make a phone call, send a text, or shoot them a direct message. This is a huge milestone we get to celebrate together as a church family, and we want everyone there.

Christmas at Christ Community is Next Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Trust me, you do not want to miss our annual Christmas Concert next Sunday, December 15 at 5:30 pm. Your entire family will love this night. You’ll laugh, sing, and enjoy remembering the birth of Christ as our worship team leads us. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family members! We will have invite cards available this Sunday, so be sure to take several and hand them out over the next week. You never know what God might do through a Christmas Concert, so consider inviting your ONE to Christmas at Christ Community.

Christmas Missions Offering 2019: Multiply

Each December, we invite our church to be generous in two ways. First, we ask that you consider giving a special end-of-the-year (EOY) financial gift to the Ministry Budget of Christ Community. Our Ministry Budget is the primary means through which we operate the ministries and missions of Christ Community. EOY giving is very important to our church as we move into the winter months of January and February. It jumpstarts the new year in incredible ways and allows us to better plan for Easter and Summer.

The second way we ask our church to be generous is through the Christmas Missions Offering (CMO). We invite our church to rally together for a specific cause. This year, our focus is on seeing churches revitalized and planted in Charlotte. We will be talking more about the need for healthy churches in Charlotte as we move into 2020. Multiply is our way of coming together to serve the city by supporting new churches.

Our 2019 CMO goal is $25,000. Would you ask the Lord how he might want to use you and your family to see this goal met? I believe he will do it as we seek to see the gospel advance across the Queen City. You can follow this link to give a special gift to the CMO right now.

I’m pumped about Sunday and look forward to singing to our King together and celebrating all he is doing for us and through us. I really hope to see you at one of our services this Sunday.
