This Week at Christ Community | Christmas Joy | December 12, 2019

Joy.

Joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. Christian joy is truly only found in knowing Christ Jesus as your Savior. If you’re a Christian, then you understand the sense of joy that exists in knowing Christ. Sadly, many of our friends and family do not know the joy that exists in Christ because they don’t know Jesus as their Savior.

Statistics show that people are more receptive to joining you at church around the Christmas season. That’s why it’s important for you to invite your friends and family that do not know Jesus to join you at one of the following opportunities over these next few weeks.

Christmas at Christ Community

Our annual Christmas Concert is this Sunday night, December 15 at 5:30 p.mTrust me, you do not want to miss it! Your entire family will love this night. You’ll laugh, sing, and enjoy remembering the birth of Christ as our worship team leads us.

I want to encourage you to think of three people right now in your life that you can invite to join you. During the evening, we will pause to share the gospel formally and invite people to respond in faith to Jesus. You never know what God might do through a Christmas Concert, so consider inviting your ONE to Christmas at Christ Community. He just might use your invitation to change the life of your ONE.

Christmas Eve Services

Our Christmas Eve candlelight service is another great opportunity to invite someone to church with you. This year’s Christmas Eve candlelight services will be at 3:30 and 5:00 pm. We intentionally keep these services shorter and focused on worship with a shorter message on the birth of Christ. We will have a special time with all the children in the service and conclude with our faith family singing together with candles lit.

The gospel will be shared and we will honor Christ throughout our time together. Don’t miss this time to remember the birth of Christ with your family.

21 Days of Prayer

I’m calling our church to a season of prayer in 2020. As we look towards the new year, it’s important that we begin the year off in a way that sets our hearts and affections on the things of God.

2020 will be the first time in seventeen years that we begin a year debt-free.
2020 will begin a new season in the life of Christ Community.
2020 will present a new opportunity for God to work in and through each of us.
2020 can be our best year for growth and multiplication as a church family.
2020 can be your best year spiritually and your best year personally.

Because of all of these unique opportunities, we must go to God in prayerful dependence. I want to invite you to commit to fasting. While there are many ways to fast, here are a few ways we recommend: Abstain from all food, observing a juice and water fast only.
Abstain from all meats and sweets, having only vegetables, fruits, and other foods (The Daniel Fast).
Abstain from one full meal a day (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) committing that time in prayer and reading God’s Word.
Abstaining from something that you do regularly: Television, social media, etc.
The goal in fasting is to dedicate more time to being dependent only on God, hearing from Him in reading his word and prayer, and walking with him in life. We want God to hear our church unified together, crying out to him for 21 days. As Revelation 8:4 says, “and the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel.”

I hope you will join us on this 21-day journey of prayer together. Follow this link to find more info and let us know you’re in!

Christmas Missions Offering 2019: Multiply

We’ve already received $11,000 towards our 2019 Christmas Missions Offering (CMO). Our goal is $25,000 this year, and we have just under twenty days left in 2019. This year’s CMO is focused on seeing churches revitalized and planted in Charlotte. Multiply is our way of coming together to serve the city by supporting new churches.

Would you ask the Lord how He might want to use you and your family to meet this goal? I believe He will do it as we seek gospel advancement across the Queen City. You can follow this link to give to the CMO right now.

Also, if you’re looking for another way to be radically generous this season, you can give a special end-of-the-year (EOY) financial gift to the Ministry Budget of Christ Community. Our Ministry Budget is the primary means through which we operate the ministries and missions of Christ Community. EOY giving is very important to our church as we move into the winter months of January and February. It jumpstarts the new year and allows us a better plan for Easter and Summer.

Thanks for all the ways you are making an impact through Christ Community. I’m excited to preach on the humility of our Savior this Sunday. I hope you’ll invite someone to join you! See you Sunday!
