January 14, 2021 – Growing In The Word

Over our 35-year history, Christ Community has always stood on the Word of God as our authority. We have always been a church deeply committed to preaching, obeying, and living out the truth of God’s Word. This is why our first core value is Biblical Authority. The scriptures say in 2 Timothy 3:16–17, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (ESV)

This is why we have called our church family to read through the Bible this year. We believe there is great value in getting in God’s Word daily, reading it, learning it, and growing in its truth. The more time we spend in the Bible, the better it is for our life. Today is day 14 in our reading plans so keep it up! If you’ve fallen off, it’s okay, pick up today and keep moving forward. Don’t give up, dig in! In so doing, you will find encouragement for your days.

ESSENTIAL MINISTRIES RESUME NEXT WEEK

Throughout December, we paused several in-person ministries to help get us through the holiday season. Now we’re ready to bring them back! Beginning next week, we will be resuming community groups and student ministry. I know this is exciting to so many of you. We’ll continue to practice social distancing, sanitizing our facility, and encouraging mask use so that we can gather safely.

Our goal for the first half of 2021 is to commit to doing what we’ve been doing and providing essential ministry to our church family. Essential ministry would include our regular Sunday morning services and our Bible-driven, age-graded ministries, including kids ministry, student ministry, and adult groups (community groups, men’s/women’s ministry, and spiritual development classes). Student ministry and groups begin next week, followed by women’s, men’s, and classes in February and March. We feel a conviction to provide opportunities for children, students, and adults to gather in community to be taught and challenged in the Word of God.

Our regular Community Group schedule will resume next week, visit this link to find a group that’s best for you!  Student Ministry will also begin next week on Wednesday, January 20 at 6:30 p.m.  Kids Community will be getting a refresh as we’re making a few changes on Sunday mornings. Starting Sunday, January 24th you will see those changes in our elementary-aged kid’s worship room at its NEW LOCATION upstairs. We can’t wait to show you how we’ve been working to provide a better environment to welcome kids and families.

Better Than

I hope you’ll join with us this Sunday as we finish our 3-week walk through of Proverbs 3:1-12, looking at verses 11-12. I hope you have been encouraged to trust the Lord at the beginning of this new year. If you have missed one of our sermons, you can visit our YouTube channel to catch up.

On January 24, I will begin a new series through the book of Esther. I’m excited to dive into this book to see all that God does to bring about his purposes. Interesting fact: Esther is the only book in the Bible that does not mention God, although His hand is very present throughout! I can’t wait to study this book together over the next couple of months.

Let’s all continue to be faithful in our daily walk with God by spending time with Him in prayer, bible reading, and fellowship with his Church.

Advancing God’s Kingdom together,

Pastor Ronnie
