ABOUT CHRIST COMMUNITY

Christ Community is a casual and friendly atmosphere in which we share the love of Christ. We preach God's Word verse-by-verse and exposit it faithfully. We believe God is redeeming and reconciling the world to Himself through His son Jesus Christ. We point people to Jesus for every need to be met or left in the presence of God. We walk faithfully with people through the joys and hurts in this life.

WHO WE ARE

Our mission. Our values. What we believe.

What we do: Make disciples

Jesus tells his disciples, and those that would follow, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”

What kind of disciples? Gospel-centered disciples

We believe Jesus radically changes a person's life. We are to remind ourselves daily that we have been set free from the power of sin and condemnation and to live in light of this freedom. We do not work for our salvation but our salvation has been given to us freely by God himself through faith in Christ. Therefore, we are to live out the gospel of grace every day in our personal lives as well as with those we are around.

The gospel not only changes how we live, but how we love. This message of Christ compels us to obey the greatest commandment, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Because of the gospel's power in our lives, we are to love God and love others well.

Where we do it: Among all people

We are called to declare the gospel among the nations. For us, this is done through multiplying and mobilizing people to pray, give, and go to the nations. We seek to plant the gospel in hard places and see it flourish into a healthy, multiplying church. We go to all people, beginning with our own communities here in the Lake Norman region.

  • Ps 96:3 – “Declare his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among all peoples.”
  • Matt 24:14 – “This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations. And then the end will come.”
  • Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Why we do it: For the glory of God

All we do, we do for God's glory. God has made a way for us to come to him through the death, burial, and resurrection of his son Jesus. Because of this wonderful truth, we now give him glory with our whole life, because once we were far off, now he has brought us near. The Scriptures are clear that God works for the glory of his name and the spread of the gospel. Therefore, we want to be a church that seeks to honor God with our whole life to the end of our life.

  • Matt 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works & give glory to your Father in heaven.”
  • Phil 3:10 – “My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death.”
